Former First Lady Mrs. Michelle Obama debuted her first public speaking engagement at the American Institute of Architects’ annual convention in Orlando since leaving the White House in January.

One thing Mrs. O did to shut down any rumors about her running for political office in the near future. According to the Orlando Sentinel the 53 year old credited her girls Malia, 18 and Sasha, 15, for her decision to not seek a higher political office. “It’s all well and good until you start running, and then the knives come out,” she said, “Politics is tough, and it’s hard on a family … I wouldn’t ask my children to do this again because, when you run for higher office, it’s not just you, it’s your whole family.”
