Mrs. O encourages and empowers 2017 future college students at College Signing day

The former First Lady was on hand to encourage and empower over 200 hundred college-bound high school seniors celebrate their success at a National College Signing Day event in New York City on May 5th hosted by MTV, and she had some very empowering words for the group of students.

In a taped message on Good Morning America shown on Monday, saying she and former President Barack Obama were "so proud of you."

“To all the students in this graduation series and across this country, I want to congratulate you for reaching higher to get the education you need for the life you want to live,” she said. “And to all the young people out there who are still figuring out your next steps, I want to encourage you to keep working as hard as you can and to empower yourself through higher education,” she added. “And then get out there and use that education to give back to your family, your community and your country.”

“Thanks so much and congratulations again to the class of 2017!"

For this event she wore a Princeton T-shirt, a cardigan, gray skinny jeans, and sneakers. Celebrities who were also at the MTV-hosted event was emceed by Nick Cannon, and stars like Bella Hadid, Billy Eichner, Donna Karan, Andy Cohen, Questlove, Olivia Palermo, Andra Day, Christy Turlington, Matthew Rhys, Robin Roberts, and more also took the stage.

During her tenure as First lady, Mrs. O had always encourage and empowered students to continue their education.
